LIAN XIAOOU: A HORIZON NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT
Art in its essence is about time – an attempt to hold back time, to make it stay. And this very endeavour is manifested in Lian Xiaoou’s work, a kind of mystical force.
The rocks are enormous; the sand, granular; yet both are suspended in deep silence on the picture plane. The large format photography involved gifts a truthful sense of being ‘there’, inviting eyes that see the work to explore the mysteries inherent, mysteries of the heart.
In the changing aspects of nature, the horizon is constant. Unchanging, ubiquitous. It contains the power of a tidal force, pulling at our imagination, keeping the fates of the many afloat. On its shore, rock formations lock onto time, demonstrating the stubbornness and resilience of nature’s memory.
Each of us has an individual memory of the sea: those unknown and unknowable moments, when currents surge, churning with both sorrow and joy.

连小鸥:无人知晓的海平线
从本质上说，艺术是关于时间的，是对时间的特殊挽留；连小鸥的作品有着某种隐秘的力量，画面中耸立的巨型岩石、细小沙砾都沉浸于深邃的寂静之中，大画幅的拍摄呈现方式，提供了最真切的现场质感，这种质感也诱惑着观者探索其内心的究竟之地。
或许在所有的自然景观中，海平线是为数不多的、某种稳定的存在，蕴含着能量与波澜，牵动着万千思绪与命运沉浮，岸边的巨石如同时间的封印，提示着记忆是如此的坚硬与顽固。
每个人都有他的记忆之海，在不可名状的时候，那些欢欣与伤痛，暗潮涌动。
